SAMPE SALON
On October 14, the SAMPE Beijing Chapter hosted a SALON titled "General Aircraft Industry Development and
Advanced Composite Application " at Liaoning Institute of General Aircraft. The Salon centered around two
keywords: general aircraft and composite materials. Main content included: policy interpretation for low altitude
areas opening in China, general aircraft (especially electric small aircraft airworthiness certification), lightweight
designing and safety control, the balance between reliability and economy, progress of the application of advanced
composites in light aircraft, suitable for general aircraft with composite material production technology and
equipment research and development. In addition, some focus on aircraft makers and composite materials
suppliers to discuss cooperation modes as well as several aspects of how to utilize performance advantages of
advanced composite materials, lightweight maximum power for light aircraft. After the SALON and panel, all the
attendees visited Liaoning Ruixiang General Aircraft Manufacturing Corporation.
The SALON was free of charge for SAMPE members and those in the general aircraft producer's industry.
Technical LCM Training in Shanghai
On October 19-21, LCM (Liquid Composite Moulding) Process and Quality Management Training was organized
by the SAMPE Beijing Chapter in Shanghai. Prof. Xiaosu Yi and Prof. Yaqing Xing were invited to be the main
advisors to share their knowledge and experience with this technology. During the quality management part, they
explained about the quality management system for composite material products research and development and
the basic requirement of the related product quality control and inspection of quality control. At the same time, the
quality control of the production process was emphatically introduced.
The main content of LCM Process included: advanced liquid composite molding (Resin Transfer Moulding, RTM)
technology system and integrated manufacturing technology, key materials technology for high performance
liquid composites moulding. In addition, they covered ES functional fabrics, simulation technology, layer design
technology, tooling design technology, typical composite parts made by LCM in aerospace and shipbuilding.
After the theoretical lectures, all of the delegates went to Key Laboratory at Donghua University for the
experimental on-site demonstrations.
