long time and the unstable compositions had been
removed. The incorporation of GF or CF prepreg
skin layers can significantly increase the LOI values
of composites because the GF prepreg and CF
prepreg are highly flame retardant14,15
. Due to the
flame retardant nature of the Nomex honeycomb
cores, the LOI values of the all the honeycomb core
PPF composites have been raised compared to the
corresponding PPF composites. The sample CFUPPF-HC
displaces excellent flame retardancy and
achieves the highest LOI value to 38.3%.
CONCLUSIONS
In summary, this work proposed a feasible
approach for recycling the waste hot-gas bag
filters by employing the cleaned filters as the
reinforcement or binding layer in composites.
This approach avoids high pollutive dispose,
complicated dissociation or degradation processes
and low profits applications. The wasted filers
are directly reused in the fabric form which can
simplify the processing to almost the maximum
extent. With sufficient mechanical properties,
adjustable sizes and thickness and outstanding
flame retardancy, the developed composites from
waste hot gas filters are highly promising for many
applications, such as modern aircraft, automobile,
sports equipment, wind turbine blade, furniture
and layout of exhibition. We predict that this
approach opens up a new avenue for high-profit
recycling of used filters which has the potential to
maintain the whole industrial chain.
