Things to Be Thankful
for in 2021

s Covid continues to dominate our lives
going into 2022, I think there are still
many things to be grateful for in 2021.
While life seemed to be going back to seminormal
around late summertime, numbers then
seemed to increase during the fall months with
December being one of the worst yet. I felt a bit
more secure after receiving my booster shot, but
just as with the flu, one can still get Covid, but
hopefully the symptoms will be diminished.
The third thing I am thankful for is delivery services!
I will also add any online retailing to that list. During
these unprecedented times, I have not only used them
for my personal meals and items, but for my clients as
well. When I have not been able to deliver meals myself,
these companies have really ramped it up to help with
my work. Granted, I should now own stock in them, as I
feel like I have contributed greatly to their bottom line!
My budget will also confirm that! Companies like Door
Dash and GrubHub have really made dining in easier
when you are too lazy to cook.
I am fourthly thankful, for all the new streaming services
and different media available to us. While going to
the movies was not an option for a long time, and regular
television became a bit dry, there is now a plethora
of movies, documentaries and just about everything,
to watch at any time of the day or night. While on the
other hand, there are way too many choices to pick, at
least there are interesting programs to watch when not
working. The only issue is that they all require a subscription
fee, and if you subscribe to a lot of them, it can
get costly.
Also, I would be remiss in not being thankful for my
The first thing I am grateful for is that my health is
good and I have not gotten Covid. I think we all forget
that there are many other viruses and bacteria that are all
still waiting to get us at some point out there, but luckily,
none of those have penetrated my mask yet. Since it was
the end of the year, I, and it seems all of humanity, have
been cramming in all my medical appointments. You
then realize how lucky you are that you are still healthy,
when you see all the people with illnesses or diseases
other than Covid in the facilities. I am also thankful that
everyone around me has been healthy as well.
Secondly, I am thankful that our industry has managed
to thrive in the last few years, despite the pandemic. I realize
that it has been a tough, stressful time for my clients,
but their business is also booming, despite the challenges.
It has been tough on staff and vets, and hopefully business
will be back to a more normal pace in 2022. I am thankful
for the patience and consideration my customers have
shown during this time to me and my colleagues.

family and friends, who through the last two years, have
been the constants and always there to offer support.
Even as we were separated, you really can't be separated
with social media and FaceTime. There are so many
ways to connect now, that there are no excuses to really
be isolated. You may not be in direct contact with people,
but there is always way to get a virtual hug when
you need it.
There have been many challenges in the last 2 years,
but I always try to be optimistic, and know that there
is light at the end of the tunnel. There are many other
things that I am thankful for - almost too many to list. I
feel lucky to live where I live, do what I do, and to have
everything I need to live a happy life. So, when getting
a bit bummed that life is going back to lockdown, or
that we will never live life again any time soon without a
mask, think about what you are thankful for in your life.
It really does help and makes the future look brighter as
we inch into 2022! P
