Light at the
End of the Tunnel

ould I be so brave to say that the " light
at the end of the tunnel " is beginning
to look a lot brighter? Does it
seem like life is returning to normal just a little
bit more, as Omicron subsides? Well, by the
way work has been ramping up this last month,
it seems safe to say that it is!! Although many of
you are still in curbside mode and keeping the
clinics closed to clients, there is more movement
amongst my clients to get out of the clinic or
begin having programs in the clinic.
The next few months for me are busy - dinner programs,
WVC, regional and company meetings, and all
in person. We all seemed to have retreated into our
cocoons at the end of the year, and up until recently, but
I think now that everyone is ready to go on with their
lives. We can only hope that another variant does not
rear its ugly head and ruin the progress we have made.
I, personally, cannot wait to start planning special
events, educational programs, and all that we normally do
throughout the year. I know that our SCVMA Chapter
meetings are beginning to start up again, some virtually
and some in person, but it is moving in the right direction.
I think everyone is starving for human connection
in their workplaces, but mostly outside of the usual nine
to five.
We had our National Meeting back in January, virtually,
the second year in a row, and it is so sad not to be
with your colleagues from across the country that you
look forward to seeing every year. So, because of the
reduction of covid cases, we are now meeting in April
with everyone for a short training meeting. It will be so
great to see everyone again.
Also, I will be going to Las Vegas in March for WVC,
and it will be interesting to see if the attendance is more
or less than it was in September. I am hoping that more
people head out, as it was nice to see clients and colleagues
I hadn't seen in a long time.
If I am feeling really adventurous, I have been invited
to a wedding in Northern Italy in May, and really want
to go. I know people are starting to go on cruises again,
and travel internationally, but it's hard to know country
by country, what the Covid protocols will be at that
time. It seems like travel is back to normal in the US
and I can only hope it stays that way overseas.
The positive aspects I see currently are that people are
now starting to make plans for the future. After 2 years
of being in a depressed (literally for most people) state, it

is nice to see the hope to do more come back into view.
We need events to look forward to, if only to go out to
dinner on the weekend. When one gets in a rut from
the monotony of life, one of the best ways to stifle that
is to make plans to do something, anything. It can be a
walk after work, a movie on the weekend or a drive up
the coast. Every day after work, I take my pooch to the
beach for a long walk, and it not only helps her to get
exercise, but it helps me unwind and get some fresh air.
We call it our happy place, and I hope everyone has one.
I am also excited for the Installation Dinner at the end
of April, as it has been two years since that celebration as
well. It will be fun to see everyone and to celebrate all
the award winners and new leadership. I also look forward
to being able to sponsor some monthly meetings
in the near future and other events throughout the year.
Yes, there is light at the end of the tunnel and a lot
to look forward to this year. I am hoping to see you at
your clinics or a special event very soon! P
