It is never too early to think about
recognizing those who have gone above
and beyond on behalf of the veterinary
profession, organized veterinary medicine
and the SCVMA.
The SCVMA recognizes award winners
each year at our annual celebration.
2025 SCVMA AWARDS
This year's celebration is scheduled for
Saturday, February 8, at the Disney
Grand Californian.
Applications must be received by September
1. The Awards:
The Ginny Grant Award,
named after an SCVMA matriarch,
is presented to someone
who has shown ongoing support
for an SCVMA member veterinarian,
or has actively participated in
programs to help educate the petowning
public about responsible pet
ownership or has actively educated the
public about the veterinary profession.
The winner is chosen by the SCVMA
Board of Trustees. You may submit

The Phil Steinhauer Allied
Industry Award is presented
to someone who
has demonstrated a long
term and ongoing dedication to the

The Outstanding
Veterinary Team
Member of the Year
Award will be presented to
a non-veterinarian who has contributed
significantly to SCVMA, organized
veterinary medicine and the humananimal
bond in Southern California.
The recipient of the award must be a
member of the SCVMA Para-Professional
Chapter and be nominated by
an SCVMA member. The recipient will
have demonstrated dedication to the
association and organized veterinary
medicine through participation and
dedication to SCVMA-related programs
and events. The nominee will have
promoted animal care and the profession
by providing excellent levels of care
in his or her position. Additionally, the
winner will have demonstrated efforts
to improve the profession (for example
by teaching, volunteering, writing, public
education, etc.).

The Cortese-Lippincott
Award, named after two
SCVMA legends, Joe Cortese
and Larry Lippincott, will be
presented by the Animal Health Foundation
to an individual who has gone
above and beyond in making the world
a better place for both humans and
animals. The winner will have excelled
in community service, service and
education of the veterinary community
and support of the human-animal
bond. The winner will be chosen by the
Animal Health Foundation. You may

The Don Mahan Award,
the SCVMA's highest honor,
is presented to an individual
who has served organized veterinary
medicine in an extraordinary manner

the well-being of animals weigh heavily
in the selection. The winner is chosen
