Alabama Updates

University of West Alabama
The University of West Alabama Office of Housing
and Residence Life welcomes Khadijha King as the
Graduate Hall Director for Gilbert Hall, a new position at UWA. Khadijha received her bachelor's degree
from SUNY Buffalo State and also completed a yearlong student exchange at the University of Hawaii at
Manoa.

Increased enrollment and changes in responsibilities
has created the opportunity for other departmental
staffing changes as well. Angela Ward has been promoted to Associate Director of Housing and Residence
Life, while Jeremy Sheffield has been named the
Assistant Director of Housing and Residence Life.

Goals of the State Organization
1. To unite the professionals of public and private
institutions with responsibility for residence life,
housing, and related support areas,
2. To encourage the sharing of resources, programs,
procedures, information and policies of common
interest.
3. To cultivate professionalism, high standards, and
ethical approaches.
4. To address the needs of staff members in all areas
of housing including residence life, operations,
and administration.
5. To provide an annual conference, workshops on
current issues, and a roster of institutional and

individual members.
6. To serve as a liaison with other state, regional, and
international organizations.
7. To provide an opportunity for staff members at all
levels to contribute and actively participate in the
achievement of ALAHO goals.
8. To support the philosophies of non-discrimination,
equal opportunity, and equal access in our meetings and on our campuses.

State Conference News and Student Leadership
Conferences
The Annual ALAHO State Drive-In Conference
will be held during the Fall 2017 Semester with a date
and time to be announced. David Miller, ALAHO
president-elect is chairing the conference committee.

The Annual Resident Assistant Drive-In Conference of Alabama (RADICAL) will be held on September 30th, 2017. Registration is $25 per delegate/
advisor and the deadline to register is September 8,

conference including the schedule.
The Annual ALLURH State-Wide Drive In Conference for RHA and Hall Councils will be held
during the Spring 2018 semester at the University of
South Alabama with a date and time to be announced.
