SEAHO Report - Spring 2018 - 4
SEAHO President
Dear SEAHO,
As I reflect on our time at the annual conference, I continue to be inspired by
the words shared by our keynote speaker, Dr. Ethel Young-Scurlock, from the
University of Mississippi. It is truly our privilege and time to let our light shine
for the housing profession and the students we serve on our respective campuses.
There was plenty of light shining throughout the conference as was evident in
the phenomenal program sessions and events that took place during our time in
Biloxi.
I would like to thank the host committee, under the leadership of Shylan Scott,
for all of their hard work before, during, and after the annual conference. We
often underestimate the countless hours given to make just a few days have such a lasting impact. The host
committee really "lit the way" for us to build connections and engage in professional development together as
a region. I would also like to thank past president, Donna McGalliard, for her leadership this past year. As we
look forward to the year ahead, the Governing Council will be tasked with continuing the SEAHO legacy and
plan to connect with you all to make that happen.
One of the ways we hope you will engage with us is through the member needs assessment. Information was
disseminated during the annual conference encouraging members to take some time to complete the member
needs assessment. The information collected from the member needs assessment will be used as the foundation
for the next SEAHO strategic plan. If you have not already done so, please go to the SEAHO website and
complete the survey.
The executive board will take time this summer to assess where we are as an organization and to develop goals
for the coming year. As we prepare to move SEAHO forward, we will continue to reach out and ask for your
feedback and participation in truly making it #seahoallyear. If you are looking for ways to connect with others
in the region or to get involved with SEAHO, please check out the leadership directory on the SEAHO website
and contact any governing council member to begin or restart your SEAHO journey
