states that are facing continued changes in the higher education landscape that directly impacts housing
programs. What is most important is that I have the true desire to continue to insure the relevance and
importance of SEAHO. If given the opportunity to serve in the role of Director of State Representatives I would
encourage and empower the state representatives to voice their concerns but also for the individual member to
do so as well. It is my hope that you will allow me to serve sharing my experience and enthusiastic attitude. I
will work to represent continued best practices, encourage new endeavors and the involvement of new voices.
May SEAHO be with you! Thank you for your time and consideration.

Dr. Stephanie Carter

Director of Residence Life, Wake Forest University
Hey y'all! I am super excited and extremely humbled about the possibility of
being the next SEAHO Director of State Representatives. Now, here comes
the (semi) hard part, talking about myself...now if you asked me about my
son, Christian or Crossfit (and dreaded burpees) I could talk/type for hours. So
bear with me as I walk you through a snippet of my professional story and my
desire to serve in this role.
A little backstory about me...I am a native of the great state of Florida, born
and raised in Gainesville. I traveled up the road a bit to the Florida State
University and that's where my interest in the field first started budding.
Becoming an RA laid a foundation that would forever change the course of my
life (that sounds very dramatic but it's true). It was through my RA role that I
learned about the field of Student Affairs, which inevitably lead me to Athens, GA and the University of Georgia
where I earned my master's degree.
Since then, professionally my journey has taken me from North Carolina, to Louisiana to Wisconsin (long
story), to Florida, South Carolina, to Georgia (along the way I picked up my Ed.D.) and now back to North
Carolina where I proudly serve as the Director of Residence Life at Wake Forest University (Go Deacs!). When
I say the SEAHO region is my professional/personal home, I mean it! Okay, back to the story, I love my job and
the ability to work with so many dynamic people. I see my role as Director as the ultimate storyteller for my
team, I want people to know the great things they are doing and it's my honor and privilege to share it.
My involvement within the region and beyond has come in the form of active committee membership/
committee chair leadership, SEAHO Report publications, a SEAHO FreeForm virtual presentation,
presentations at the SEAHO and ACUHO-I annual conference, involvement with NCHO, membership on the
SEAHO Governing Council and most recently through my involvement with RELI as a faculty member for 2
years and I am currently one of the co-chairs (I am rolling off after RELI 2020 after serving my 2 year term).
I cannot begin to describe how the RELI experience has impacted me at this stage in my professional journey.
The ability to meet and share an experience with 32 professionals and 8 passionate faculty members from
around our region is more impactful than I can put into words. Having the opportunity to hear the sudden plot
twists, successes and professional struggles they experienced and persevered through truly inspires me. With
this impending transition, I am looking to keep my story going, by assisting the SEAHO organization in another
capacity.
What I would bring to the role if elected...
Part of the Director of State Representatives responsibility is ensuring each state in the region is specifically
