5. Establish etiquette/norms/expectations for engagement in the space.
a. This includes establishing how folks will ask questions or contribute to the space. Ask yourself:
ai. Should participants ask questions in the chat or hold onto questions till the end?
aii. Should participants use the chat to exchange thoughts and ideas, or is the chat
primarily a space to ask questions to speakers?
aiii. Should participants use the " raise hand " feature if they have questions?
aiv. Should participants use the " reaction " feature in response to the content of the
presentation?
b. Establishing norms also relates to broader terms of engagement in the space. Make your
expectations clear, and, when appropriate, ask for input from participants. Ask yourself:
bi. What values do you want to center in the space?
bii. What information or lessons leave the space today?
During/at the end of the session:
1. Visual Resources
a. Provide the accessible versions of your resources again, for example by sharing a link or a
document in the chat.
b When using visual resources during your presentation (for example images or videos), provide
a brief description of what is on the screen, especially if visual aspects of the content are being
discussed in the session.
2. Handouts and takeaways
a. Consider creating a hand out with further resources and a brief summary of what was covered
in your session. This can be helpful to participants, particularly if folks did not take notes. It
can also be great to share with individuals who were interested in the session but were unable
to make it.
b. Review your learning outcomes again to recap what you want participants to have gained from
the session.
3. Provide space for questions, clarifications, and feedback
a. Dedicate time at the end of your session for participants to ask questions or clarify what was
covered in the presentation.
b. Invite participants to share their feedback, ideally with an option to be anonymous. For
example, using a google form with an optional question about name & contact information.
