SEAHO Report - Fall 2024 - 7

SEAHO NEWS
The Treasurer's Trove
Greetings SEAHO! Our first entry focused on the broader picture of our SEAHO funds; the different funds we
have and how they are organized. This entry will cover our association's endowment funds. These endowment
funds play an important role in supporting our members' professional development for other opportunities
within our field. The two endowment funds that SEAHO currently has are the Legacy Fund and the Dr. Paul
and Diane Jahr Endowment.
The Legacy Fund was established in 2016 with excess funds from the association in order to give back to
our membership. The Dr. Paul and Diane Jahr Endowment was established in 2023 through their belief in
professional development within our field. Both of these endowments were set up through the ACUHO-I
Foundation. Typically, endowments will work to increase the principal or keep it steady and use the funds
generated by the principal toward the endowment's specific cause. The ACUHO-I Foundation provides
quarterly statements for both of SEAHO's endowments, operating on a calendar year cycle (January 1 -
December 31). Although established in 2016, the first disbursements from the Legacy Fund did not begin until
2018. Over the last few years, our amount available for distribution through the SEAHO Legacy Fund averaged
around $10,000 per calendar year. To date, the SEAHO Legacy Fund has distributed over $40,000 to over
70 SEAHO members for professional development opportunities. Funds were also distributed for the Dr. Paul
and Diane Jahr Endowment last year. If you are interested in looking into applying for these funds, you can
find more information about what each of our endowments support and the application process on the Grants
section of the SEAHO Website.
Each of our endowments through the ACUHO-I Foundation has its own champions that support each
endowment and help with growing the endowment funds. SEAHO also has a representative to the ACUHO-I
Foundation and serves on the Foundation Regional Cabinet. You will continue to hear about the ACUHO-I
Foundation and our endowments at conferences and throughout the year. These funds continue to grow
through the generosity of our membership and corporate partners. As these endowments continue to grow, so
will the amount of funds we have available for disbursement to our membership.
I appreciate and thank all those who have donated to our endowment funds since their inceptions. We want to
ensure that these funds are used so our members can continue to be involved throughout our profession and
build their skills and networks through these opportunities. If you have more questions about our endowments,
you can reach out to me at treasurer@seaho.org. I am looking forward to seeing many of you at SEAHO 2025
in Huntsville!
