SEAHO Report - Spring 2024 - 5

(Louisville), Steve Syoen (Tennessee, Knoxville) and Sarah Butler (Florida State)
for their leadership of the Program, Corporate Partners, and Website task forces,
respectively.
* The DEI and MOP Committees are collaborating on revitalizing our SEAHO
Spotlight initiative. The hope is to highlight our colleagues from across the region
who have identities that we can celebrate together.
* Each member of the Governing Council has been asked to submit at least one goal,
and frame that goal through a SMART Goal lens. My hope here is that having their
goal carefully thought through will create the opportunities for new initiatives and
strategies to be successful.
* Regular communication is being facilitated through my role as President. I am
sending our Governing Council members weekly emails, the Executive Board is
holding monthly meetings, and we have also scheduled a virtual summer Governing
Council meeting so that we are not going until the Midyear meeting without seeing
each other and discussing the work we are all doing.
* Our three Directors - Dr. Megan Becker (Committees), Jana Jordan Miller (State
Reps.), and Sarah Butler (Communications) have held transition meetings with their
respective Governing Council members, and have regular meetings scheduled for
their groups throughout the year.
* Aubree Adams, our SEAHO 2025 Conference Coordinator, and the Host Committee
have already been working to ensure that our time together in Huntsville, AL is
amazing. Dates are already established and published for the summer site visit,
program submission and the midyear meeting.
* We are participating in conversations with other regions and ACUHO-I leadership on
how to be involved in and provide leadership for collaborative initiatives.
There is already so much going on, and I hope that this work will soon expand its reach to
all of the SEAHO membership. However, you don't have to wait for something from me or
the Governing Council to be engaged. There is plenty you can do of your own volition to
stay connected. Reach out to that new person with whom you connected at the conference
or the presenter who really struck a chord with you. Begin an outline with a colleague for an
article for the next SEAHO Report or for when the program submission window opens. Share
information you gleaned from a presentation at the conference or a SEAHO Report article
that you feel might be helpful with your staff, your department, or your students. Engage
with our social media, tag @SEAHOConnect to share the awesome stuff going on in your
world.
I want to take a last few moments to share with you some recent news. At SEAHO 2024 we
reminded everyone that SEAHO 2025, Sweet Home SEAHO, would be led by Aubree Adams
(USC, Columbia) and take place in Huntsville, Alabama. We also shared that SEAHO 2026
will take place in Winston-Salem, North Carolina and will have Dr. Brittany Philbert (UNC
Wilmington) serving as the Conference Coordinator. I am excited to share that we have
completed our process for this cycle of conferences, and can now share that SEAHO 2027 will
take place in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and will be coordinated by Jeremy Bowersox (Embry
Riddle)! Thank you to Gavin Roark for his fastidious dedication to ensuring that everything is
in line with our conference contracts to set up SEAHO for the best possible experiences.
Finally, I am excited to share that the Presidential Recognition initiatives I mentioned in
my closing remarks in Charleston are now ready. The Brick Recognition initiative, designed
to recognize SEAHO members who are building towards SEAHO's future success and
sustaining its current prowess, will be represented by a nifty pin depicting a building brick
and the SEAHO logo. The Oh Yeah! Recognition initiative, intended to show that one has
demonstrated an enthusiasm and support for the spirit exemplified by SEAHO, will be
