Registries Continue to Grow! Is Your
Program Part of the Movement?
Megan Cohen, MPA, CAE

I

t is an exciting time to be part
of the AACVPR Outpatient Data
Registries! Since their launch,
the registries have grown
into powerful tools to track
patient outcomes and program
performance, while also building an
evidence base for the effectiveness
of cardiac and pulmonary
rehabilitation on such outcomes
as morbidity, mortality, physical
function and quality of life. The CR
Registry, launched July 2012, now
includes more than 400 participating
programs and over 100,000 patient
records. Since the launch of the
PR Registry in June 2013, 158
programs have contributed to the
more than 8,500 patient records.
The Registry Committee is
developing new initiatives to
ensure users get the most value
from the registries.
PR Registry Enhancements
Enhancements are coming this spring
for the PR Registry to improve the
quality and relevance of outcomes
reporting, including:

Mentorship Program
Based on direct user feedback, the
committee is launching a program
to connect local colleagues using
the registry to share best practices.
The goal of the Registry Mentorship
Program is to fill a need for support,
skills development, problem solving
and collaboration on the local
level to ultimately enhance user
experience and satisfaction. Mentors
and mentees will receive support
and resources to help with problem
solving strategies and skills for
improved data entry and report use.
The Registry Committee is piloting
this program in five states this spring
and plans a full launch this summer.
If you are interested in participating in
the Mentorship Program this summer
as either a mentor or mentee, please
contact registry@aacvpr.org.
Link from Program
Certification Application
Joining the registry will now help
with your Program Certification
application. Starting with the
current, 2015 application window,

programs subscribed to the
registries may use registry data to
complete their program's clinical
outcomes assessment. A direct link
within the application will populate
your registry data for easy transfer
into the application fields.
If you are not already contributing
to the AACVPR Outpatient Data
Registries, I encourage you to visit
www.aacvpr.org/registry today to
learn more. Put your program at the
forefront of cardiac and pulmonary
rehabilitation and join the growing
registry network. Should you have
any questions or need help getting
started, please contact Registry
Support at registry@aacvpr.org.
Finally, I'd like to take a moment to
thank the Registry Committee for all
of the time and energy they commit
to the success of these programs,
as well as the following sponsors
for their support of the registries:
