Educational Opportunity Program
For more than 50 years, The State University
of New York's Educational Opportunity Program
(EOP) has made it possible for talented students
who have limited financial resources and are
academically underprepared to attend a SUNY
college, earn a degree and achieve their life goals.
EOP provides eligible students with a prefreshman summer experience, extensive academic
support services, a nurturing environment and
modest financial assistance.

Are You Eligible?
To be eligible for admission to EOP you must:
(1) be a New York State resident for 12 months prior to
enrollment; (2) require alternate admissions consideration;
and (3) qualify as economically disadvantaged according
to the guidelines indicated. In selecting students for the
program, priority is given to applicants from historically
disadvantaged backgrounds. Please note that eligibility
does not guarantee admission.

Academic Eligibility
Academic eligibility will vary by campus. To view the
EOP freshman profile for each campus, visit suny.edu/
eop-academics.

Financial Eligibility
The table to the right lists financial guidelines for EOP
eligibility. To be determined economically disadvantaged,
your household income must not exceed the amount shown
for its size, or your circumstances must conform to one of
the following: (1) your family is primarily dependent on
public assistance; (2) you are in foster care as established
by the court; or (3) you are a ward of the state or county.
Eligibility guidelines may be adjusted slightly each year.
