SUNY Educational Opportunity
Program For more than 50
years, the SUNY Educational
Opportunity Program has made
college attendance possible for
students with limited income who
are academically underprepared.
EOP ensures that students with
academic potential are provided
the opportunity to attend a
SUNY college, earn a degree, and
achieve their life goals.
EOP provides eligible students with
a pre-freshman summer program
experience, tutoring and academic
support, skill development
opportunities, counseling, and
modest financial support.
Are You Eligible? To be eligible
for admission to EOP you must:
(1) be a New York State resident
for 12 months prior to enrollment;
(2) require alternate admissions
consideration; and (3) qualify
as economically disadvantaged
according to the guidelines
indicated. In selecting students
for the program, priority is given
to applicants from historically
disadvantaged backgrounds.

not guarantee admission.
Academic Eligibility Academic
eligibility will vary by campus. To
view the EOP freshman profile for
each campus, visit suny.edu/eopacademics.
Financial
Eligibility The table to the
right lists financial guidelines for
EOP eligibility. To be determined
economically disadvantaged, your
household income must not exceed
the amount shown for its size, or
your circumstances must conform
to one of the following: (1) your
family is primarily dependent on
public assistance; (2) you are in
foster care as established by the
court; or (3) you are a ward of the
state or county. Eligibility guidelines
may be adjusted slightly each year.
