Our story-based magnetic barrier game, Fantasy Story Adventures, combines the enchantment of imaginary times and places with real-life literacy and reading skill building. The language-based fun sheets include reading, reading comprehension, reading fluency, story retell, following directions, vocabulary, and cloze activities. Fantasy has five duplicate sets of game boards (Candy City, Pirates on Mermaid Island, Jungle Animals, Princesses & Knights, and Dinosaur Times), 100 magnets, Activity Book, Printable CD-ROM, and dry erase marker.

Princesses and Knights – Reading Comprehension
Directions: Teacher/Helper reads the story to the child and puts magnets (underlined in story) on the board when telling the story. Teacher/Helper may choose to lay out the magnets for the child to place on the board as the teacher reads the story. After reading the story, complete the Story Chart on page 40.

Around the World magnetic barrier game takes students to far off lands while working on these important language skills – basic concepts (large/small, top/bottom, many/few, same/different, tall/short, crooked/straight, wide/narrow, dark/light, long/short, and left/right), vocabulary, listening, following directions, categorizing, rhyming, and storytelling. It has five duplicate sets of game boards (Cold Lands, Pond, Outback, Rainforest, and Desert), 108 magnets, an Activity Book, Printable CD-ROM, and dry erase marker.

Directions: Receptive: Student follows the directions given by the teacher/helper.

E J Put many bumblebees on the beehive. J Put many ants on the bushes. J Put many spiders on the grass. J Put the ladybug on many flowers. J Put bumblebees on many birds.

Expressive: Teacher/Helper places an object on the board to represent opposite or related
concepts. (Teacher places the ladybug on the picture of many flowers and says, “The ladybug is on many flowers.” Then, the teacher places the ladybug on the picture of a few flowers and says, “Now the ladybug is on...” Child says, “a few flowers.”) Continue with other magnets. Alternate answers are acceptable.)

Challenge Directions: If you like, use more difficult directions to challenge students. (Put many bumblebees on the
rock, and grasshoppers on a few flowers.)

You may also have the student cut out the pictures above to use with the black and white scene on page 7. Check the boxes beside each word to keep track of the student’s ability to use language receptively (R – pointing to the items) and expressively (E – saying the name of each item).
