HEALTH ISSUE 09 HEALTH ISSUE 09 OUT FOR BLOOD Bud Stout believes donating blood is the right thing to do. He has been rolling up his sleeve for 30 years, answering the call to donate about five times a year, or whenever he hears blood supplies are running low. It cannot be manufactured.” Bud suggested the idea of a clubwide blood drive among his friends in The Villages Table Tennis Club. “Many members immediately agreed and felt it was a good idea,” he said. The group’s first blood drive was Memorial Day weekend 2007, followed by another drive on Halloween, where Bud sported Dracula fangs, a red bow tie and comical black T-shirt printed in red lettering: “Out for Blood.” JANUARY 2009
