BUSINESS BRIEFS Fross & Fross Since relocating four years ago to The Villages, Fross & Fross Financial Inc. has become one of the community’s fastest-growing boutique financial services firms. The growth has been so impressive that the firm’s principals, twin brothers Rob and Thomas Fross, felt the need to expand current operations in The Villages to accommodate the client growth. If all goes as planned, the brothers anticipate opening a new 6,800-square-foot headquarters building around April just to the west of the Sweetbay Supermarket in Lake Sumter Landing Professional Plaza. Until then, the brothers will continue to operate from their current headquarters site at 3251 Wedgewood Lane in the Southern Trace Professional Plaza. For information, call 205-7800. Two factors played a big role in the brothers’ decision to expand and build. “First and foremost, because of the ability to offer golf-car accessibility to our clients,” Thomas Fross said. “Clients want to be able to get in their golf car and drive to where they’re going. With The Villages population, that is going to become increasingly important where clients can choose to climb into a golf car and not drive a car.” The other reason centered on an important benefit available to the partners and their staff. “Our staff currently has five children, including the daughter of one of the partners, who are attending The Villages Charter School,” Thomas said. “That is so special. We wouldn’t give up that opportunity for anything, because the quality of education offered at the charter school is second to none.” Villages Entrepreneur Janet West The founder of two of the most successful companies in The Villages — Shear Express Inc. and the Salon Professional Academy — recently celebrated a huge milestone. Cosmetology entrepreneur Janet West commemorated the 25th anniversary of founding the Shear Express family of businesses and the fifth annivesary of her accredited cosmetology school, the Salon Professional Academy. The celebration culminated in a special honor during a fall evening at the exclusive Bern’s Steak House in Tampa. Executives from Redken 5th Avenue NYC and its Southeast distributor, SalonCentric, not only treated West and a select number of her key executives to one of the finest dining experiences available, but those executives also presented West with commemorative 25th-anniversary plaques for each of her four salons and the cosmetology studio. “That was the highlight of the evening,” Scott Cook, Redken’s Tampa-based Southeast and MidAtlantic director of business development, said about the presentation to West. “You could see the joy in Janet’s face.” West’s accomplishments as an entrepreneur are impressive, Cook said, especially the success of the Salon Professional Academy, the accredited cosmetology school that West opened five years ago this month. “What wows a lot of people from our company, when they visit her operation, is her school,” Cook said. “The school is very impressive.” In addition to the accredited cosmetology school, West is the managing partner of Argo Hair Co. salon in Spanish Plaines Plaza Shopping Center, Root 466 salon in Southern Trace Plaza Shopping Center, LesliJon Salon in La Plaza Grande Shopping Center and Dimensions Hair Studio in Colony Plaza Shopping Center.
