" Determined to grow and improve, she painted portrait after portrait until the canvas yielded her vision. One such painting hangs on a wall in her home. " This is a man from our hometown in Italy, " she said. " He was very intensely talking to a woman. The wind was blowing but in the still shot I got of him, the hair was stable. A still shot doesn't show movement or " R E D, W H I T E & P L A I D " activity. The way you remember the scene and the photo are different. " Lefebvre notes that she'd tucked the photo away for two years, waiting for the image to settle in her memory so she could paint from the well of emotion. Bringing brush to canvas with a clarity sharpened by the passage of time, Lefebvre brought her subject to life. " The image I remembered was stronger than the photo, so I painted this, " she said.
