Joe, I could tee it up from the boys' tees and have
some fun."
Instantly impressed with Joe's appearance and
wit, Patty played it cool and negotiated her terms.
"She was feisty," Joe said. "She told me she'd
listen to my presentation if I bought her a soft
serve ice cream."
Taken by her boldness and beauty, Joe obliged.
He completed his presentation and left the venue
with her contact information and a promise to
write to her soon.
"I had to return home to Minnesota the next
day," Joe said.
But the distance would not hinder the budding
romance. Late-night phone conversations filled
the hours and miles between them.
"Although golf was our connection, we had
much more in common," Patty said. "We wrote to
each other and one thing led to another."
Just a few months into their courtship, Joe
asked the question. They were watching the
"Splash" show at the Riviera Hotel in Las Vegas.
"My cousin was the star of the show, so I
prearranged my proposal," Joe said. "Patty had
her suspicions about what was going to happen.
She kept scanning the marquees."
