Posture and balance are critical to good contact - hips must be back so you are tilted over the ball, and knees are slightly bent or unlocked so your weight is more forward on your feet for balance. One of the most common problems is during the golf swing, depending on which side of your body you have your knee/ hip problem. To help you increase your turn and get your swing on plane, flare the foot on the side of your body with the problem - e.g,. if you have a knee or hip issue on your right side, flare your right foot to allow for a less stressful swing.
