A Tough Year Ends on
a Positive Note for Retail Employees
Golfing is a pleasure in The Villages, but shopping is a
major draw, too. Local country club golf shops are inviting,
well organized and aesthetically intriguing. You might say
the retail experience is on par with that of course play. As
winners of this year's AGM Platinum Award, four country
club golf stores now hold the proof. A high-caliber contest
judged by an impartial panel, the AGM Platinum Award
recognizes premier golf shops that demonstrate excellence
in a number of categories - such as creativity, adaptability
and revenue-generating initiatives.
" Last year, my first year, we submitted two country clubs
and we were honored to have Havana Country Club win the
Platinum Award, " said retail manager Larissa Knott. " This year
we added the additional country clubs for a total of four -
Evans Prairie, Havana, Nancy Lopez and Palmer Legends -
and I was ecstatic that all of them were selected. "
Despite many challenges that affected retail operations
in 2020, Knott and her colleagues have adapted and come
out on top.
" We increased the number of retail promotions,
including outdoor and online shopping, allowing our
residents to feel comfortable shopping, " Knott said.
The staff continues to take pride in its work and will
celebrate this important new milestone.
" I would say I was surprised, but nothing surprises me
with this team in The Villages Golf and Tennis Department, "
Knott said. " It is truly a team effort. "
