to visit her mother and officially meet Vinny at Cody's Original Roadhouse,
where he performed that night at the restaurant on Lake Sumter Landing.
Flashy in his jewel-studded jumpsuit and cape, Vinny works the crowds at
local venues. Like Gina, he has fond childhood memories of Elvis, watching
the leather-clad star strum his guitar on live television - mesmerized
by his oil-slicked hair, sultry sound and smooth moves.
" I was watching with my mom and I remember thinking,
'Wow, who is this guy?' " he said.
Vinny later joined a band. His foray into Elvis impersonation
came when a friend bought him a suit and asked him to perform
at a party for his mother.
" I did, and his mother loved it so I kept the suit and continued
to perform, " Vinny said.
Over the years, he graced the stages at countless Florida
venues. Entertaining is more than a job. It is a source of
personal satisfaction for Vinny - a means to ignite
memories and transport his audience through song.
" Music is such a huge part of our lives, and certain songs
speak to us about good times, sad times and the soul, " he said.
