BRINGING THE EXPERIENCE
TO A STUNNING COMPLETION
With the first phase of opening underway, Krager and his staff
endure the growing pains, vying for workspace in their temporary
digs as the pieces come together - and in a literal sense, as it
pertains to the remaining construction of Southern Oaks golf shop
and cart barn.
" Right now, it's close living quarters, " Krager said. " I've got my
inside staff here. I've got my outside staff here. I've got myself here.
I've got my supervisor here, and we're operating with a small team,
so we don't have everybody on board yet, but by the time we get that
full team together, we'll be across the street with the cart barn and
with the pro shop. "
Hectic, yes, but Krager is thrilled nonetheless, taking the
opportunity to spend more time on the course.
" We're still putting some finishing touches on it, " he said. " The
players don't really notice but we've got our projects. And then we're
also planning the opening of the putting course, sooner rather than
later. We don't have an official date, but we have a good game plan
and a lot of exciting things are happening. When everything is up
and running, it's going to be a great setup. But right now, we're
transitioning to the full-on experience. "
As for the flow of play, Krager says golfers enjoy the pace.
" We're running straight tee times so early golfers love it because
they can come out, make the turn and keep going - play really quick.
Whereas with a wave, you come around the turn and have to wait. "
Although Krager's schedule is not yet conducive to playing at his
leisure, he looks forward to exploring the course - getting his game
up to par.
