TONY WILSON
PGA PROFESSIONAL
HOW DID YOU GET INTO THE
GOLF INDUSTRY?
I was introduced to the game by my dad at age 7
(Holloman AFB, Alamogordo, NM). I played in high
school and college, where it became a true passion.
Instead of going to graduate school in architecture,
I " took a break " at Sombrero Country Club in Marathon,
FL as an assistant golf professional.
The rest is history!
WHAT BROUGHT YOU TO THE VILLAGES?
I worked with Ken Roshaven in 1990 at Rosemont
Country Club. In addition, I met Villages golf course
architects Ken Ezell and George Clifton while working
at Deland Country Club in the mid '90s. These fellows
thought I might be a good fit in The Villages, and my
four-year tenure at Cane Garden began.
WHAT ADVICE DO YOU HAVE FOR RESIDENTS
GOLFING IN THE VILLAGES?
Enjoy each day, especially those spent with
family - on a golf course or both!
WHAT'S THE MOST INTERESTING
HOLE AT YOUR COURSE AND WHY?
Allamanda #3 for sure, a par 5 with a huge oak tree
to skirt off the tee. Double dog leg design,
straight off the tee, lay-up to the right,
approach an uphill green back to
the left - diabolical!
WHAT DO YOU DO
FOR LEISURE?
I travel the world when possible,
and I slave over crossword puzzles!

HOW DID YOU GET INTO THE
GOLF INDUSTRY?
I didn't start playing golf until I was in college and
was immediately hooked on this great game. Upon
graduating, I worked in Manhattan in the financial
services industry before I made a career change. My first
job was at a small private club near where I grew up
and it didn't take me long to realize how much I enjoyed
being involved with this great game.
WHAT BROUGHT YOU TO THE VILLAGES?
In 2010, I was working as the Director of Golf at The
Biltmore Hotel in Miami when I saw a job posting for
Tiera Del Sol in The Villages. I liked the idea of working
within the Golf Division was and The Villages was
known throughout the industry as a wonderful golf
experience. I felt I could contribute to the success of the
operation.
