SPRING SIDEWALK SALE Villagers, mark your calendars for the sixth annual Spring Sidewalk Sale hosted by the shops of Spanish Springs Town Square. The popular sale will be 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. March 28 and noon to 5 p.m. March 29. The sale has become a tradition every spring, at the end of March, according to Alan Cook, vice president of All Things Fine Inc., a shop of fine gifts. “We probably see a few thousand people over the course of the two days,” Alan said. “It attracts a lot of people and it’s a good time for shopping before the Easter holiday. We are getting a lot of people now who come in and ask, ‘When’s the next Sidewalk Sale going to be?’” Alan understands residents’ excitement for the event. He notes there will be great shopping bargains and special offers throughout both days of the sale. “We always find while we are setting up around 9 or 9:30 a.m., we’ve got people hovering around trying to get the early bargains,” he said. Alan believes the bargains can’t be beat. “Almost all of the retailers at the Sidewalk Sale will have merchandise that is normally 50 percent off,” Alan said, adding All Things Fine Inc. also will feature merchandise marked half price. “And a lot of retailers — and I know we do — look for items for the sale, things that we can get a good deal and we pass that good deal on.” Ellen Souza, store manager of Patchington, a specialty women’s clothing store, also has found Villagers and visitors look forward to the Spring Sidewalk Sale. “We do fabulous in the Sidewalk Sale, we really do,” Ellen said. “There’s always a lot excitement, and it brings in crowds of people; everybody enjoys it.” She noted Patchington shoppers also will be able to enjoy 50 percent off bargains. “We’re looking forward to it,” she said. “We’ll be having some specials, too,” said Jill Baker of Bonne Chimie, a retailer of custom-blended skincare products. Other Spanish Springs Town Square merchants scheduled to participate in the sale include Banner Mercantile; Bijou and Nejma’s Boutique; Chico’s; Cozco Handcrafts; Island Images; Kilwin’s Ice Cream and Chocolates; Foot Solutions; The King’s Gallery; The Olive Tree home and garden décor; Turtle Bay Clothing Company; Golf USA; and Scentsational Candles. More merchants, including new businesses in Spanish Springs Town Square, also will be asked to join the event. MAGAZINE 89 Go & Do Retail Briefs
