RON STAUFFER'S EXTENSIVE CAR COLLECTION
INCLUDES A 1963 FORD F-100 UNIBODY

Village of Collier resident Ron Stauffer knows a thing or two
about classic cars - especially classic Fords.
Throughout his life, the car enthusiast has owned more
than 20 classic vehicles (several of which were Fords), sold Ford
tractors and farm equipment, and he is on the museum building
committee of the Early Ford V-8 Museum in his home state of
Indiana. His son also was an engineer with Ford for 15 years,
where he worked at one of the assembly plants.
One of the classic vehicles in Stauffer's collection is a bright
red 1963 Ford F-100 Unibody, a colorful example
of an iconic American truck.
He purchased the classic truck from a seller
who said he found it on a Native American
reservation, and the truck had seen plenty of
wear and tear throughout the years.

"It was beat up," Stauffer said. "There was no rust, but it
was beat up so bad. The hinges (on the hood) had broken loose
from wherever they fastened to, and (the previous owner took)
barndoor hinges and bolted them to the cowl."
With so much that needed replacing on the truck, he had
to purchase a separate "donor" truck to use for parts - a
common practice among car collectors when a vehicle needs a
total overhaul.
