Answer:
Cats accumulate hairballs as a result of normal grooming habits. Occasionally, they accumulate as a result of behavioral or neurologic disorders (which can cause excessive grooming) or primary gastrointestinal diseases. Hairballs occur more frequently in long haired young to middle-aged cats, but it is not uncommon for shorthaired cats to suffer from this problem, either, from, self-grooming or licking another long- haired-cat. Intermittent regurgitation or vomiting of hair balls with no other clinical signs is considered normal. This can be reduced by giving approximately 1/2 teaspoon of Laxatone two to three times a week, or by feeding a hairball - control diet. If weight loss, diarrhea, lack of appetite, excessive grooming or hair loss occurs, seek veterinary care. Rarely, hairballs can become large and remain in the stomach or small intestine, causing an obstruction. Clinical signs of this will be lethargy, vomiting liquid and gagging. This is a surgical emergency, so you should seek advice from your veterinarian immediately if this is a concern.

Katie Belle is named after the restaurant in The Villages, because after visiting, we knew how badly we wanted to move here. She loves riding in the golf cart. We head over to feed the ducks, and Katie Belle loves watching them. We put her in her cat carrier and away we go!
