April Flowers Bring May Solace
May is here and amid the changes in our world, we're learning a slower
pace of life. We're not dancing on town squares or packing seats at shows,
but we're cooking, crafting, reading and connecting via online platforms.
In this issue, we highlighted Villagers who find solace in sunshine,
gardening and art. We chatted with club members who stay busy while
beautifying their homes, and we got the scoop on local entertainment.
As the saying goes, "The show must go on," and indeed it does,
thanks to Whitney Morse, creative director and Elizabeth Constant,
booking coordinator of The Sharon L. Morse Performing Arts Center.
When you take a (virtual) front row seat at one of their online offerings,
you'll learn something new, get swept into a song, or be delighted by a
digital show.
"I am doing my best to recreate a regular 'Don't Tell Nonnie' under the
latest safety guidelines," Morse said. "For this event, I'm relying heavily on
my own repertoire, and those who tune in on May 4th can see it live, while
others can watch the replay."

"This was the first year we were able to give a discount on Broadway
shows," added Elizabeth Constant. "It was so successful we are now
offering four titles next season to our Broadway announcement, which
goes live May 10 online and in The Daily Sun. Needless to say, I'm really
excited about the season announcement. Stay tuned!"
If you're at home twiddling your thumbs, how about picking up a
hammer, a paintbrush, a glue gun or a swatch of fabric? When it comes to
DIY projects, The Villages Home Decorating Club has a toolbox of tips and
ideas to share. See how they've added pizzazz, charm and function to their
homes with projects you can do in yours. Add color to a corner hutch
or china cabinet using tape and wrapping paper - Village of Calumet
resident Libby Bailey shows you how. Repurpose antique mirrors as wall
decorations - Village of Collier resident Sheri Rowe guides you through
it. Check out those projects and many more in our creative DIY story.
If art inspires you, Bob Keough has a whimsical world to share. His
miniature clay creations include pristine houses with scalloped roofs and
creeping vines bursting with flowers. A lover of gardening, Keough often
recreates the foliage he cultivates outdoors. With a hunk of clay and a
handful of tools, he brings his intricate designs to life. Keough is deaf, but
that doesn't stop him from expressing himself.
