"I've been kind of a speed nut all my life,"
Bill said. "I remember taking a snowmobile
up to Little Saint Germain Lake in Wisconsin and setting the fastest time up there on
the lake. So, I've been kind of interested in
high performance stuff all my life."
While both cars tend to draw attention
wherever they go, the yellow paint on Norm's
car gets plenty of comments. "It can be a bit polarizing,"
he said. "It's an unusual color - race yellow. We take
ours to Sanford (to get serviced) and the tech there said,
'I hate yellow, but your car isn't too bad.' You either like
it or you don't."
Since both Norm and Bill have had several cars in their
collections throughout the years, they both credit their
wives for supporting their hobby from the beginning.
Back when he collected Corvettes, Norm says his wife
Lynn helped him clean parts before and after attending
car shows.
"She'd sit on the couch and hand clean my 72-spoke
Dayton wire wheels that I took off the car," he said. "We
would always dismantle the car when we got home and
when we were sitting around watching TV, we would be
cleaning wire wheels with a toothbrush."
Bill says maintaining a car collection is impossible
without a partner who supports you.

"You have to have a mate that's going to play your
game," he said, laughing.
For Norm and Lynn Cummins and Bill and Carrollyn
Hunt, a mutual love of cars brought them all together. In
fact, a chance sighting of the Hunts in their Viper while
driving to view a house is how they all met in the first place.
"We followed them down (the street) and when they
stopped to look at a house, we got out and started talking
Vipers - that's how we met," Bill said, laughing.
And that's how friends were made here in Florida's
Friendliest Hometown - brought together by an
American legend.
