Her love of decorating is inherited, she notes,
inspired by her mother.
" This is how it all started, " she said, pointing to
a framed photo of two women on a grassy slope in
Maine - her mother and grandmother.
" (Mom) was a great decorator, " she said. " She was
a homemaker; she loved color and her homes were
stunning. She had great taste and just knew how to
place furniture - not too many pieces and the right
accessories. She sparked my love for decorating and
creativity. "
In The Villages, Debbie's inspiration is a close friend
and fellow Maine native.
" She's wonderful - we get together and share ideas,
help each other, " Debbie said. " And, of course, I'm
lucky to have a husband who's so handy and accommodating. He lets me live out my decorating dreams. "
While Debbie is pleased with their patio villa,
Bruce wonders whether she'll get the itch to pack up
again soon.
" He says, 'Please tell me this is the last home,' but I
could never commit to that, " Debbie said, smiling.

June Bailey is big on hospitality. With her
wide smile and warm Southern accent, she
makes friends wherever she goes. Her home is
a welcoming space, where bright colors greet
guests with an energy that matches her own.
Often associated with love and passion, the
color red is among June's favorites, and you'll find
splashes of it in her decor - along with shimmering metal pieces and other lively accessories.
In her working years, June owned and
operated several childcare centers while her
husband David worked as a police officer and
occasionally helped June run events.
" She comes up with the ideas and I just
follow along, " David jokes.
Before moving to The Villages, the couple
took a post-retirement job managing Mountain
Lakes Resort in Helen, Georgia, a scenic
vacation spot where the two had vacationed for
many years.
