Villager’s youthful return to his Galaxie

eorge Olsen has returned to the Galaxie of his youth. Back in late 1963, while living in Lynbrook, N.Y., a then20-year-old Olsen bought a yellow 1964 Ford Galaxie 500 and drove it around for a year before moving on to another car. Jump ahead, and Olsen has found another ‘64 Galaxie, but this one is blue instead of yellow. And apart from some bumper guards, the two-door car looks exactly the same as Olsen’s original. Olsen, who lives in the Village of Amelia, is a part of The Villages Vintage Car Club and likes to attend the Car Cruise Villages Vintage likes Cruise In at Spanish Springs Town Square with the other members. Q. Were you looking for the car, or the was the car was looking for you?
A: I was looking for it. My first car was a ’64 Ford Galaxie. I bought this to replace it. (The original car) was yellow; this one is called sky blue. I had been looking for maybe a month. I checked eBay (where I found the blue Galaxie), and I won the bid. (My wife Barbara) thought it was a dream. I woke her up at one in the morning (to tell her). I found (the auction) had three days left, but for the last two hours, I just sat in the chair watching the bids. I had a cut-off point, and I didn’t exceed it.
