Kids!
Children at The Villages Charter Primary Center attend an after school cooking class,
Just as the kids at The Villages Charter School enjoy their cooking class, creating in the home kitchen with kids can be both fun and educational. Shannon Sigmon, pre-K4 teacher with The Villages Charter School, led a group of children in an after-school edible craft project. The project of the day consisted of using strawberries, grapes, pre-cut pineapple and fresh cantaloupe to create a flower-like arrangement.
The kids were able to use their imaginations to arrange the fruit however they wanted, then bring it home to enjoy it with their family. Kid-friendly recipes and edible crafts can be a creative way to get even the pickiest eater to try new things. Sigmon said of the food-related projects, “If they make it, they are more willing to try it.” Bonding with your grandchildren over food creates lasting memories that will be cherished for a lifetime. So grab your favorite recipe, a couple of aprons, add kids and enjoy.
