44 JUNE 2020 There certainly is no shortage of ways to play a game together these days, even when you're apart. Download a game on your phone via the app store and play with (or against) each other whenever you have a few minutes to spare throughout the day. If phone games aren't your thing, try playing a simple board game such as chess or checkers against each other remotely. Make your moves and share what you do over the phone and move the pieces on your board when you are ready. Just be sure to snap a pic of the board when you are done for the day - don't want to lose your spot! Another idea is to work on a puzzle together. Search retail or online stores for a puzzle you both would like and buy two copies - one for you and one for them. Save it for when you're on the phone or a video call together and you can put the puzzle together while chatting about your day. It's a fun distraction and keeps you both busy while sharing a few minutes together. Ask them or their parents what they currently are watching and find a way to watch it yourself so you can chat about your favorite parts. Streaming services such as Netflix, Hulu or Disney+ have thousands of movies and TV shows to watch, and chances are, your grandkids have a few favorites. Sound like a pro the next time you chat!
