NEW TO GOLF VILLAGERS LEARN THE BASICS WITH THE NEW TO GOLF PROGRAM STORY BY MARK ANDERSON | PHOTOS BY ROB WILKERSON Golf in The Villages is an institution. With nearly 700 golf holes all within a short golf car drive, there hardly is a better place to pick up one of the world's oldest and most popular sports. However, if you never have played a round a golf, it may seem a little intimidating to head out to one of the many courses in the area, especially if you are playing with experienced golfers. That is where The Villages Golf Academy's New To Golf Program comes in. 42 JULY 2019 A five-day class with a sixth on-course day, the New To Golf Program teaches attendees the basics of golf - from course etiquette to scheduling tee times to putting, chipping and driving. It is everything the inexperienced golfer needs to know before hitting the greens. Each program is taught by one of the PGA professionals from the academy, and the program itself takes place at either the Sarasota Golf Practice Center, the Palmer Legends Country Club or the Nancy Lopez Legacy Country Club.
