Q | Tell us about the facility in which you work,
and the activities and amenities available.
A | I am a recreation area manager, and I currently
oversee parts of the Southern geographic area in The
Villages. I am currently working out of Ezell Regional
Recreation Complex, where we have an on-sight 18hole
putting course and we are adjacent to Sawgrass
Grove. In this newer facility, we are getting our feet wet
in welcoming resident lifestyle clubs from arts and crafts
to mantras and meditation to exercise groups. There is
always something new and exciting going on here at
Ezell Regional Recreation Complex!
Q | How does this recreation center differ from
others around The Villages? How is it similar?
A | Each recreation center has similarities in regards to
operations and management, however, what sets each
facility apart are the amenities it encompasses. From
putting courses to dog parks, each facility and area has
its own way of shining. Here at Ezell Regional Recreation
Complex we have the standard amenities other facilities
have, but we also have the Clifton Cove Putting Course, a
Fit Club, and we share a parking area with Sawgrass Grove
- which I am sure will bring more fun, food, and fantasy
to this area.
Q | If given the time, are there any hobbies,
sports or recreational activities you'd like to do
or try for the first time?
A | I enjoy many recreational leisure activities in my free
time. This includes exploring the many state parks, kayaking,
the beaches, or just enjoying simply being in nature.
Q | How does the staff work together to keep the
culture upbeat and the facility functioning as a
hub for community activities?
A | We work together as a unit. Creating a great support
staff in a fun environment allows us to enjoy coming
to work each day, as it feels more like hanging out with
friends rather than working. Of course, we get everything
done but we have fun while doing it. That could just
mean putting on some upbeat tunes while doing a room
set up or testing our vocals on the microphone to ensure
the audio-visual equipment is working before a group
comes in.
Q | Are there any new things in store for you,
the staff or the residents in terms of new amenities
or improvements, whether big or small?
A | There is always something new coming to The
Villages and that is why I enjoy working here so much.
Right when you think, " We have it all " - BAM! a fun new
recreational activity comes on board for all to enjoy.
