MVP Athletic Club-The Villages Health and fitness in The Villages just took a big step forward with the opening of MVP Athletic Club-The Villages. Orlando-based MVP Sports Clubs recently acquired rights to manage The Villages Wellness Center in Spanish Springs Town Square and then rebranded it. Right away the heath-and-fitness group struck a resounding chord with Villagers as thousands quickly signed new memberships to enjoy the expanded benefits now available at the facility in La Reina Building. Within the next few months, members will see many changes as the group completes a makeover. For one, the health-and-fitness group will expand operations to the first floor and absorb the space formerly occupied by The Villages Golf Cars. The first-floor expansion will create a central reception point, including a member lounge, juice bar, some retail space plus facilities for classes on nutrition and exercise. Member benefits include the club’s “NewFit” orientation sessions with a certified personal trainer to encourage daily activity, set goals and enhance club use through specific fitness programs. The membership also includes access to the latest in Business Briefs Retail Briefs cardiovascular and strength-training equipment, group exercise studios for complimentary mind-and-body, cycling, strength and cardio classes plus complimentary group exercise classes such as yoga, Zumba and more. Hours of operation remain the same: 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday. For information, call 753-6911.
