D is for Day-Break
For adult residents with special needs and their
caregivers, Day-Break Club of The Villages has
provided a place to call home and find friends with
commonalities since 2013. The club provides a
supervised environment where caregivers drop off
about 35 family members with special needs for a few
hours each week, allowing caregivers free time and
those with limitations to safely relax and have fun.

E is for Eating in the Raw
Residents care about their health and value sharing
resources. Eating in the Raw is one of those mindful groups
that seeks to help people feel and function better and live
longer. Started in 2008, the club has grown to about 100
members. The focus is on teaching people to avoid processed
and cooked foods, and how to make delicious dishes using
just fruits, vegetables, seeds and nuts. Plenty of recipes are

F is for Four Score and More
Only in The Villages do you find a club devoted to
residents age 80 and older. Member Helen Kroesser,
104, founded the group in 1993 to encourage
camaraderie among those at a similar stage in life. Of
about 275 members, about 120 people gather monthly,
including a handful of centenarians, to exchange
stories over a meal, enjoy live entertainment and enter a

G is for German Americans
A wide variety of clubs pay tribute to their members'
heritage. The German American Club is one of the
longer-running ones, started 24 years ago. Today, 250
members meet twice monthly to socialize and dance to live,
professional German music. Beyond the annual German
American parade, members gather for traditional German
banquets and carnival-like gatherings with comical
poems and Schatzies dancing around maypoles. Call Jim
