On the fourth Monday of every month, singles with a sense of adventure and a connection to the gentle sound of the waves venture to beaches around Florida for a relaxing day with sand between their toes. "We travel to both coasts, play games on the beach, walk, read and socialize," said Caro Ramey, group president and coordinator. "We just have a great time." The club's next outing will be Sept. 26 to Anna Maria Island. Trips are $25 per member, and first-timers pay $30. Buses generally leave at 8:30 a.m. and return at 8:30 p.m., and the pick-up location depends on the coast that Beachcombers are headed to. Trips fill up early, so sign up soon. Maybe you are history aficionados or music connoisseurs. Whatever your areas of expertise, trivia night at Margarita Republic is a delightful time to flaunt your combined knowledge to the world, share a laugh with your loved one and earn some prizes in the process. The questions cover a wide variety of topics, and in between the brain busters, you just might meet some new couples to help make trivia nights a group-date-night tradition. Bob Kruszewski and his wife, Mary, attend every Wednesday. "It keeps the mind going," said Bob, of the Village of Dunedin. "We get to meet lots of other couples and friends, and it's a fun competition." Michael and Joyce Kerner team up with the Kruszewskis and others to form the "Smarty Spartys" in honor of Michigan State University. "It's a great excuse to use some useless trivia we have gathered over the years," Michael said. "We've met lots of new couples here, too."
