Sterling Heights Recreation Center offers variety of amenities, activities BY LIVI STANFORD The amount of work that is put into opening a recreation center is by no means small. A month and a half before Sterling Heights Recreation Center was set to open, Danny Jacobs, recreation supervisor, was busily working many hours to make sure everything was in place. This entailed everything from getting staff in place, to making sure all supplies are present, to tidying up loose ends. “The Villages has a standard of perfection, and we want to make sure as a staff we are ready to open the doors to the residents and that (everything) runs like clockwork,” Jacobs said with a smile as he multitasked several duties in his office from answering phones, to directing staff, to handling paperwork. The center — located in The Village of St. James — opened Aug. 3, but only in September did resident lifestyle groups begin holding meetings. OCTOBER 2011
