As a freelance artist,
Lighthipe sells her work at
Gilded Matilda's and lends
her talents to various clients worldwide.
"I did a piece for an archeologist who was trying
- Mindy Lighthipe
to prove that certain rocks
were flinted by humans," she said. "They were actually chiseled for tool-making. The photographs she had
didn't show enough definition or highlight the features
she needed to prove her theory. I did a series of sketches
for her, and they were done for publication."
An eager apprentice of the Earth, Lighthipe has long

been enthralled with nature.
"I was the kid who played in the mud, who wanted
to learn about insects and plants and the world," she
said. In the garden behind her home and on trips to
Costa Rica and more, she continues to learn through
exploration and the creation of art.
"I'm passionate about it," she
said. "I find it completely fascinating, and I hope people
can look at my work
and be amazed."
