2+3 THE VILLAGES INTRODUCES NEW EXECUTIVE COURSES TO GOLFERS BY STEVE TRIVETT PHOTOS BY MARIANNE LOBAUGH Four-hundred, fifty-nine and counting. When the Bonita Pass Executive Golf Course opened to rave reviews from the first players to step onto the pristine greens on Oct. 5, the number of golf holes in The Villages reached the 450 mark. Less than two weeks later, Yankee Clipper climbed aboard as the 26th executive course in Florida’s Friendliest Hometown. And it won’t be long before that number jumps to 468 and then 477 and then 486, as three more executive courses will follow, with the last scheduled for opening in less than 12 months. “These will be the last courses north of 466A,” said Cane Garden head professional David Williams. “And all of them are excellent additions to the Executive Golf Trail.” Williams wasn’t about to get an argument from any of the players who were lucky enough to win a drawing to be the first to play Bonita Pass. = Fore “I’ve played every executive course in The Villages and this is another good one,” said Villager George Stolworthy, who was joined in his foursome by wife Pat and in-laws Bob and Carol Brady. “It’s a fun course.” NOVEMBER 2009
