DECEMBER 2010 2 16 24 Features Looking Back at 2010 The year 2010 can be remembered in The Villages as a time of monumentous announcements regarding the community’s future with the Moffitt Cancer Center and The Veterans Clinic. Political and celebrity visits were plentiful and residents of The Villages made the many events here memorable. Experiencing Broadway’s Best More than 40 performers are rehearsing for “A Chorus Line,” the award-winning Broadway stage musical that provides a dancing, singing and acting challenge for its cast. This talented group is rehearsing together three times a week with the goal of performing a dazzling show Jan. 19-22 at Savannah Center. Strength and Discipline Villagers are discovering martial arts to be a physical challenge with mental benefits. Two clubs that are offering residents the opportunity to join in are Martial Arts for Life and Taekwondo. Participants have found that the practice makes them stronger and more confident and allows them to enjoy their active Villages lifestyle. 32 Spreading Holiday Cheer Meet the Villages’ own Santa and Mrs. Claus. For more than 10 years, the Village of Santo Domingo couple have been appearing at holiday community events as Santa’s representatives, spreading holiday cheer to children and adults.
