Growing Trees for Generations to Come Tree Farming roots grow deep in Washington State. America’s very first certified Tree Farm was born on June 12, 1941, near montesano, in Grays harbor county, a short stretch from the Pacific ocean. named the clemons Tree Farm in honor of pioneer logger charles clemons, at the time some naysayers believed that the whole Tree Farm notion was little more than a publicity attempt. however, this movement gave birth to a philosophy deeply grounded in the belief that by developing forest management plans, we as a nation could provide trees forever and ever; that forests are a long-term, renewable resource.
