Arie Havelaar, Deputy Head of the Laboratory for Zoonoses and Environmental Microbiology, National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM), The Netherlands, delivered the keynote lecture, “Global Burden of Foodborne Disease.” Renowned invited speakers presented over 40 presentations, on topics including Review of Outbreaks, Emerging Risks in Food, Foodborne Viruses, Risk Assessment and Food Safety Initiatives. More than 70 posters were displayed and presented, and 18 technical presentations took place. Presentations from many of the sessions are available on the IAFP Web site. One technical presentation and one poster won the student competition.
