David reported that the past year (year ending
August 31, 2018) provided an addition to our General
Fund balance. The General Fund grew to over $3.37
million. Overall, our operational revenue increased by
$187,000 or 4.6% over the prior year. Total expense
remained steady and comparable to FYE 2017.
For the year ending August 31, 2018, IAFP added
$520,000 to the General Fund balance; $284,000
was attributed to gains on our investments.
We continue to watch our spending closely while
making sure that our services to Members continue
at the highest level. David thanked the IAFP Staff,
the Executive Board and all IAFP Members for their
efforts this past year with growing the organization.
Tellers Committee Report
Jim Dickson reported on the Secretary election.
There were 815 valid votes cast with Michelle Danyluk
from the University of Florida elected as Secretary
for the 2019-2020 year. A motion to accept the report
and destroy the ballots was made by Katie Swanson,
seconded by Sean Leighton, and approved. President Jackson congratulated Michelle and thanked
Alex Castillo for standing for election.
JFP Management Committee Report
Sean Leighton reported that all back articles from
JFP from 1937-1966 are posted on the website and
that the journal has been working on rebranding
through the development of a logo, a new flyer, an
infographic and a cover redesign. There was a lot
of discussion over the Scientific Editors' report. The
journal is looking at a refresh of strategy focusing
more on authors, which resulted in two recommendations: First, a comprehensive review should be
conducted on the overall quality of the experience our
JFP authors are receiving through their engagement
with the Journal. This includes how long it takes to go
from approval to publication, the quality and calibration of reviewers' comments and should also include
a comparison to other journals published by similar
organizations. Second, a new process is initiated to
invite targeted authors to write reviews for JFP on
specific, high impact or highly relevant and timely
topics.

FPT Management Committee Report
Matt Taylor reported they had great attendance at
the meeting and thanked outgoing Chair Faith Critzer
for doing an excellent job. Catherine Cutter agreed to
another four-year term as Scientific Editor and Byron
Chaves was elected as Vice Chair. The Committee
wants to keep pushing the visibility of FPT to IAFP
Members and to find a way to reach those who are
not currently reading the journal.
He indicated the Committee is recommending
that they share the booth with JFP next year and
to make research papers open access immediately
upon publication.
Foundation Report
Wendy White reported on behalf of Gary Acuff.
She announced the IAFP Foundation balance
reached $2.013 million as of August 31, 2018. Contributions continue to increase and the majority are
used for travel awards, with more than $68,000 spent
out in FYE 2018. She indicated close to $120,000
has been contributed during the current fiscal year
in addition to the contributions received through the
Membership renewal system.
The meeting was once again interrupted by the
Florida Association for Food Protection, who managed to hold their own Kentucky Derby, complete
with horses, jockeys and Derby finery, including a
special hat for President Tim Jackson. The Affiliate
generously donated a total of $1,400 to the Foundation and raised $75 through "picture donations" after
the meeting concluded

The meeting was adjourned at 1:06 p.m. by
President Tim Jackson after a motion by Zeb Blanton
and a second by Carl Custer.
