PDG HIGHLIGHT
The Dairy Quality and Safety
Professional Development Group
The Dairy Quality and Safety Professional Development
Group's (PDG) mission is to promote the production
and processing of safe, high quality dairy products and to
develop program topics and symposia for presentation
at the IAFP Annual Meetings. The PDG is made up of
more than 250 leading food safety professionals within
academia, industry and government from across the world.
Its members are very engaged, attending both virtual and
in-person meetings, openly exchanging ideas on educational
symposia, roundtables, and webinars. Wendy McMahon
(chair), Josie Petersen (vice chair) and Sarah Murphy
(secretary) comprise the current leadership team.
Regular meetings help facilitate discussions for developing
content to share with industry during PDG meetings, the
Annual Meeting and webinars. Despite a challenging year,
five symposia and one roundtable sponsored by the Dairy
Quality and Safety PDG were accepted by the Program
Committee for the Annual Meeting in Phoenix and are
presented below.

A webinar titled " Processing Water - I Thought It Was
Sanitary " was presented in 2021. To find this webinar, check
out the Dairy Quality and Safety PDG on IAFP's website
under Getting Involved along with meeting minutes and
many helpful resources.
Collectively, the PDG discusses timely topics determining
how to share more broadly. This was the case at the PDG
meeting in Phoenix followed up by two subsequent virtual
meetings that helped to submit 10 symposia or roundtables
for consideration at the 2022 Annual Meeting in Pittsburgh.
We look forward to what 2022 will bring for Dairy Quality
and Safety!
