lot has happened since our
last magazine. Despite the
challenges of the past two
years, there is a lot to be proud
of - from our recent US News
& World Report rankings (#31
of BSN and #17 for MSN programs)
to the amazing research and scholarly
work being conducted at the College. We have
proven we can come together, overcome unexpected
hurdles, emerge stronger while boldly
transforming the future of healthcare together.
With an upcoming in-person graduation in
December (the first in nearly two years!), as
well as the advent of vaccines and new therapies
that have made it possible for staff and
faculty to return to campus on a part-time
basis - we are beginning to see the light at
the end of the tunnel.

This College and its people - alumni, faculty
students and staff - have shaped and continue
to shape the nursing profession. As you read
through the following pages and reflect on the
remarkable work at CU College of Nursing, please
take a moment to contemplate the amazing people
among us.
In this edition of CU Nursing, learn about the
early days of the Pediatric Nurse Practitioner
program from one of our first graduates - Maddie
Nichols; discover how a bachelor of science
student found his passion, roots and citizenship
after being adopted as a toddler from Japan;
find out about recent graduates - what they've
accomplished and their plans for the future;
and get to know how our Campus Health Center
helped a dental medicine student prevent hearing
loss. Also, discover groundbreaking research
and scholarship our faculty are conducting; catch
up on classmates, faculty, and students - where
they are now and what they are doing; and learn
more about what inspires recent AAN Fellow
