Pharmacy Perspectives - Winter/Spring 2015 - (Page 2)

WINTER/SPRING THE BEST OF THE BEST O M E SSAGE F ROM DEAN THE T his edition of Pharmacy Perspectives highlights how our students are learning from the best faculty, instructors and preceptors in unique clinical settings within the Anschutz Medical Campus and the community at-large. We know we have exemplary students, staff and faculty. But it is rewarding to be recognized by the professional community as a whole. This year, our school achieved elevated status from some of the most prestigious organizations in the country including the American College of Clinical Pharmacy (ACCP), the American Society of Health System Pharmacists (ASHP), and the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP) with recognition and awards in education and research. Thank you to all of you who were instrumental in our success. In this issue, you will celebrate our school's achievements; learn about our alumni and how they are changing the world through volunteerism and how they are bringing medication expertise and health care to the masses through Salud Clinics and pharmacies; discover how pharmacy practice is expanding into clinics, ERs and surgical settings and how having a pharmacist on board after a patient undergoes brain surgery made the difference in one patient's recovery; and uncover the alter egos of staff, faculty and students. You will also be transported to our high throughput screening core facility, which allows researchers the ability to study thousands of compounds at a time that could one day provide the cures for many diseases. We encourage you to learn more about our school and the people who make it a success. For those who have graduated and those who work, study and learn here, there is much to celebrate. And remember, keep in touch as we want to hear from you. ur school had a lot to be proud of during this year's American College of Clinical Pharmacy (ACCP) Annual meeting in Austin, TX.
