assignments. ... He is incredibly
easy-going and is a great role model
for the pharmacist I want to be."
Another said, "He provided me
with advice on how to become a
Kroger employee and even sent a
recommendation for me."

Dr. Gill, students said, took time to
ensure their rotations were going well,
despite his busy schedule. He gradually
increased students' workloads so they
could get used to the intense demands
of the rotation.
"Dr. Gill went above and beyond
to teach me everything about pharmacy-related and non-related problems
that I have already faced or will face in
my career," one nomination said.
Dr. Gill "was a great preceptor ... he
tailored the rotation for me by letting
me present on topics that related to his
rotation (HIV-related therapy) but also
covered my areas (of strength)," another
said. "Definitely my favorite preceptor
of the P4 year."

EXCELLENCE IN
PRECEPTING: HEALTH
SYSTEM PHARMACY
Lance Ray, PharmD, Clinical
Pharmacy Specialist,
University of Colorado Hospital
Emergency Medicine

Dr. Ray won praise from students
for patience, commitment, leadership and constructive feedback.
Although the emergency department was often hectic, he made time
to answer questions and provide
opportunities for learning.
"I can honestly say that he is one
of the best preceptors I have had,"
said a nomination. "This was a very
challenging setting to have your
first Advanced Pharmacy Practice
Experience at as a brand new P4
student. ... The fast-paced environment, diverse patient population,
and having to make split-second
decisions were all very intimidating
for me. This all changed for me by
the completion of this rotation."

CU Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences

CU Pharmacy preceptors were honored during an annual recognition event hosted at the Denver Aquarium. Preceptors,
faculty and staff, pictured here, all took in the event to network and recognize award winners.
