Graduation :

Chanine Defensor:
Grateful for My
CU 'Pharmily'
BY CHANINE DEFENSOR

M

y husband Travis is an alumnus of
CU Skaggs School of Pharmacy
and Pharmaceutical Sciences Class
of 2014. I supported him throughout his pharmacy school journey;
after graduation, our roles reversed
and he supported me through my
pharmacy school journey. He is my best friend and most enthusiastic supporter. I am incredibly grateful for my husband
Travis and his unwavering encouragement and support. We are
a CU Pharmacy family and proud to represent the incredible
program that is CU SSPPS. We are excited to be a part of the
development and expansion of all CU Pharmacy has to offer.
Through our commitment to the program and the school, we
grew individually and as a family.
Pharmacy school has been part of many fond chapters in
the Defensor family life. We married when Travis was a P3 and
renewed our wedding vows at our five-year wedding anniversary
in Dillon, Colorado at Sapphire Point when I was a P3. We
welcomed our son, Thaddeus Adams Defensor, to the family
in August 2017 and have truly enjoyed sharing our lives with
our pharmacy school family, "pharmily." We feel blessed and
honored with the outpouring of love and support from our CU
pharmily. The camaraderie we have shared with the friends we have
made with colleagues and faculty truly warms our hearts. From
weekend-long study groups on campus with Thaddeus in tow, to
celebrations of birthdays and weddings, pharmacy school has truly
been a remarkable and memorable experience.
These past four years have provided me ample opportunities
to give back to the community via my commitment to serving
the underserved through the Student National Pharmaceutical
Association. I learned how to better manage my time and delegate tasks while I had the honor of being SNPhA president. I
am humbled by the collaboration and interactions I had with
other student organizations, elementary schools, and health fair
teams. Each new SNPhA conference I attended allowed me to
grow both my leadership experience and my professional network.
The community work that SNPhA accomplishes year after year
